At the 2024 China Top 500 Enterprises Summit Forum held in Tianjin on September 10-11, the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Enterprise Directors Association released the 2024 top 100 Chinese multinationals list and the Transnationality Index. Lygend Resources ranked 84th in its first participation. It is noteworthy that Lygend Resources ranked fourth in the Transnationality Index, showcasing a high globalization level.
The top 100 Chinese multinationals list is generated based on the top 500 Chinese enterprises, top 500 manufacturing enterprises and Top 500 service enterprises lists, and with reference to the criteria of UN Trade and Development. Lygend Resources appeared on the list for the first time, and ranked fourth in the Transnationality Index with a score of 69.02%.
Since its establishment 16 years ago, Lygend Resources has kept making a global presence, and set up a unique business system around the production, manufacturing and trade of nickel products. Currently, the layout of the Ningbo headquarters, overseas resource support, manufacturing and smelting in Indonesia, and worldwide markets is taking shape, and an industry landscape of “upstream nickel resource integration and trade – midstream smelting production and equipment manufacturing – downstream extension of application scenarios” has been created.
Lygend Resources aims to become an example for Chinese enterprises going global. Since 2018, Lygend Resources has built an industry park on Obi Island, invested in high pressure acid leaching (HPAL) and rotary kiln electric furnace (RKEF) laterite nickel ore smelting projects in Indonesia based on proven domestic technologies, with a total annual design capacity of 400,000 tons of metallic nickel. Thus, Lygend Resources has become the world’s first enterprise to convert and utilize laterite nickel ore resources on a large scale and at low costs in Indonesia, supporting the development of the new energy vehicle and steel industries.
In terms of multinational operations, Lygend Resources has established a governance structure tailored to local conditions, and leveraged the advantages of itself and local communities to build new industry towns by adhering to the business strategy of “globalization, specialization and resource diversification”. In addition to investment in production and construction, Lygend Resources also focuses on creating local employment opportunities overseas, improving the industry ecosystem, and constructing local public infrastructure in order to share the achievements of its thriving business with people of different races and faiths, and boosting the high-quality joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
As a “newcomer” on the list and a leading enterprise progressing with the times, Lygend Resources will continue to focus on building a full nickel industry chain, integrating into the new development landscape, practicing the new development philosophy, and becoming a globally competitive green high-tech enterprise and an example for Chinese enterprises going global faster.
